Letters to Euturpe 38- Drumming, Picture, and Penguin

Waiting.
And thinking.
Fingers itchy
And starting
To move.

Thumb taps.
Pinkie does too.
And the rest
Tap along
Drum along
In a silent tune.

Waiting.
And thinking
And staring
At pictures.
Hoping to find the light.
Hoping to see the end
Of waiting

And thinking
And drawing
Strange nonsensical lines.
And wishing
Those drawings
Were words
In a line.
On a page
In your book.

But instead.

You’re waiting
And thinking
And staring
At penguins on a variety show
They don’t
Give you
The light you need.

So, instead
You keep on waiting
And drumming
And staring
And watching
And wasting time
Watching time fly by.

And it flies
Without a word written
Without a word to say.
Without a thank you
Or maybe or something
Written on that  page.

And you keep waiting
Just knowing
That something
Will make the light shine
And it will shine
And your words will
Shine so bright.

    1. You’re welcome!

While I like the idea of using song quotes as story/poem prompts, I’m really liking this new challenge. It’s a lot of fun taking those three unconnected words and working them into a poem. I can’t wait to start on #39. I’m loving the words you chose for that one. 😀
