Friends don’t lie.
They may stretch the truth and bend it to the snapping point when necessary.
But they do not lie when it is important.
Sometimes it isn’t easy.
Sometimes telling the truth is as fun as getting jabbed in the eye with a javelin. There are hurt feelings on both sides. There are slammed doors and unanswered phone calls.
Sometimes those phone calls go unanswered for years.
Sometimes the one side will try to reach out to the other — only to find out that they are too late by an hour. A day. A month. Several years.
And there is regret that they waited so long.
That they deliberately destroyed their friendship over something as simple and as necessary as the truth.
