Just Give Me A Simple Reason…Or Not.

A simple reason
Was all Jane needed.
She barely need to
Elaborate why.

But a smile
Came upon her face
As a complicated reason
Came into her mind.

It was too marvelous.
It was too grand.
It was far too splendid
Not to use.

So, she told her teacher
The reason why she
Was late for school.

It involved
A crocodile
A Jango tile
And a harp
Slung around the moon.

It involved
A broken tire
And the world
Set on fire.

And there the teacher
Made her stop.

And now Jane
Is stuck waiting
In the outside lane
Of the principal’s office.

When all she needed
To say
Was one simple reason.
And that would have been enough.
