Margaret at Weird Zeal was tagged by Sophie @ Sophie’s Corner for the tag that she created: The NaNoWriMo 20 Questions Tag! Margaret answered the questions and then passed the tag to whoever wanted to give it a try.
So, just for the fun of it, I decided to give it a try.
Here are the NaNoWriMo 20 Questions:
Tell me about your NaNoWriMo project this year! Give me a blurb!
This is a story I’ve been aching to write, but I kept putting it off. It’s the story of Raven aka James Arden. He is the butler for the Farlington family. He is honorable and respectable and overly aware of society expectations and social standings. He would never do anything to endanger the Farlington’s reputation. He loves them and he loves his job. Unfortunately, he also loves May Rose, their oldest daughter, who happens to be engaged to someone else.
What’s the genre?
Romance/fantasy.
Describe your MC in three words.
James Arden: Honorable, orderly, repressed.
Without spoilers, describe your villain in three words.
Society: Judgmental, classist, restrictive.
What is your goal? (the traditional 50K? 20K? 5K? or……. 100K?)
I’m going to aim for at least 20K and if I hit 50K, yes! 😆
Is this your first draft? Second? Third?
Technically speaking, this will be my first full draft of Raven’s story. But I have written bits and pieces of his past in flashbacks in my current story.
Are you starting a new project (or draft), or continuing an existing one?
This will be a new project, because it is completely different from the story I did last year for NaNo.
What is your favorite time to write in the day?
Hahahaha! Any chance I can. Even though, I seem to do my best writing late at night.
Where are you going to write?
In my room and wherever else I can. 😉
Computer or paper?
Computer. Unless there’s a power outage. Then, I will switch over to paper.
NaNoWriMo is a huge commitment!! How are you going to make time to write?
Sheer determination! 😆
Are you going to participate in local or online NaNoWriMo events? (e.g. kick-off parties in your city, write-ins, virtual writing sprints…)
I would love to be able to do a virtual writing sprint.
Do you write from beginning to end or skip around?
I’m a straight-line kind of girl: straight from beginning to end.
Planner or pantser? (or plantser?)
I guess I could be considered a…plantser? Sort of? I don’t write a full outline, but I figure out future plot points as I write. I make notes in a separate document so I don’t forget those plot points and I write towards those points.
What will be your go-to NaNoWriMo snack?
Quaker Oats peanut butter granola bars. Yum!
Choice of caffeine? (or no caffeine?)
No caffeine. Bottle of Dasani water, just because I’m fussy and particular that way. 😉
Any rewards for milestone achievements? For finishing NaNoWriMo?
A big bag of Reese’s peanut butter cups. Mm-hmm.
Share a tip for other NaNo-ers!
Don’t feel disappointed if you don’t hit that 50K and “win” NaNo. Just write and enjoy the ride.
How are you feeling about NaNoWriMo? (Excited?! Nervous!? Terrified?!)
Both excited and nervous! I almost wrote this story last year for NaNo, but I wanted to do a different story that was likewise aching to be told.
Share an aesthetic for your NaNoWriMo novel!
Eeep! Sorry! I haven’t made one yet.
I’m going to pass this tag to AJ at The Mind of Nox, because she and Nox are awesome. Plain truth.

Thank you so much!
Can I just say one more time how happy I am to finally be working on Raven/James Arden’s whole backstory? There will be certain challenges to writing it, but it will be awesome to fully develop it and flesh it out.

Your project sounds so cool! It’s always nice to find an excuse to sit down and tackle a project you’ve been wanting to work on for a while. Good luck with NaNo this year 🙂

Thank you so much! I’m so happy and excited to work on this story, I want to start working on it right now. 😆 But I’m being good. I’m refraining from doing any early starts. But it’s so tempting.
Good luck to you too! 😀
